Cicloaustral is a project founded by three students of Ecotourism of the Andres Bello University, which pretends to promote the Austral Route as the World's Capital of Bicyle Touring, contributing a sustainable develpment, based in the protection of identity, culture and enviroment of the area and creating opportunities to the touristic business in relation to cycling trips.
Last summer, the three of us travelled 2.100 km (ca. 1300 miles) by bycicle, with the objective of performing the first of many touristic investigations in the south of Chile, searching for important information about touristic services, natural and cultural attractions and bycicle tourism recommendations.
All information has been uploaded to the website www.cicloaustral.com, where the bicyle tourists can plan their trips with actualized recommendations, including maps designs, bicycling products and benefits of the local tourist service to bicycle travelers.
The project works with local communities, giving technical cooperation, and external agents, to finance and sponsor the adventure.
